Like you did, taking a note of \u0026#39;how to do better next time\u0026#39; is definitely a good move (if not hard to remember to do), but at the end of the day, letting it eat at you doesn\u0026#39;t do anything but make it feel worse.\u003cbr /\u003e\u003cbr /\u003eA friend of mine once told me, as she patiently listened to me agonize about a Foot-In-Mouth episode, that the person to whom I said it probably won\u0026#39;t remember it tomorrow and especially not in ten years. Granted, the situation was probably more trivial than the example you gave, however I think it still applies. Do you think your dad will obsess over your comment to him even 1% as much as you will (or might)? If you think he does, then create the \u0026#39;next time\u0026#39; where you\u0026#39;ll do better to resolve it.
